Gingival graft
Gingival grafts are performed to provide a patient with more gum tissue where it’s needed. The procedure consists of restructuring the gums and covering exposed teeth. There are several grafting techniques.
Gingival recession is often caused by vigorous brushing, poor dental hygiene, gum disease or bruxism (teeth grinding). When the root or the enamel become exposed, a patient may experience hypersensitivity in those teeth.
As soon as you notice signs of gingival recession, it is important to see a dentist right away. This will prevent further repercussions on your oral health. If you don’t, you may develop cavities or sensitivity to heat and cold. When left untreated, gingival recession can also cause loss of teeth and bone mass.
If you have any of the above-mentioned symptoms, call us right away. We’ll examine your teeth and recommend a treatment plan that suits your needs and budget.
